Our Mission
DHCCA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our mission is to offer school-aged community members and their families throughout Nassau and Suffolk County an opportunity to explore Mandarin Chinese and the culture that comes with it
We welcome Chinese and non-Chinese speaking families to come join us on our exciting adventure of learning and making friends
Curriculum Introduction
DHCCA offers 30 weeks of simplified Chinese classes on Friday night from 7pm-8:45pm (two 50 minutes sessions) and 26 weeks of culture classes from 8:50-9:35 of (one 45 minutes session). Our current culture class offerings are, DIY, Drawing, Comic Drawing, Knitting, Coding, Clay, and Creative Thinking, which children can enroll based on their own interest.
We use Happy Chinese* (快乐汉语) as our textbook for CSL classes, Heritage Chinese* (马力平) for Chinese as Native Language class. “Hello, Chinese! -starter sets” (Hello, 华语! starter sets) for our pre-K class and students age 4-6.
Why us ?
We offer small classes to our students and provide two studying tracks: Chinese as a Second Language (CSL) for non-native speakers and Chinese for native speakers. The classes run from mid-Sept to mid-June following the public school calendar.
